Sustainability has been a cornerstone of Duerson Commercial roofing since the beginning. Our team uses sustainable roofing techniques, which are not only energy efficient but are also very durable and easy to install and maintain.

At Duerson, we partner with Alter Metal Recycling to recycle all old metal from projects. Every site has a recycling dumpster to recycle all cardboard, plastic and other recyclable materials each week. We also remove old Duro-Last during a re-roof, where all of that material gets returned to their plant in Sigourney to be recycled.

How Duro-Last® is Eco-Friendly & Environmentally Safe

Duerson has been installing commercial and industrial flat roofing for years. We have hundreds of completed flat roofing projects in Iowa and around the Midwest. We use the Duro-Last® roofing system, which is one of the most energy efficient roof systems on the market today. Thanks to its initial reflectivity of 87.5%, based on Energy Star testing procedures, Duro-Last is able to keep energy costs low.

Energy

With energy costs continuing to rise, it’s more important than ever to select a roof that can reduce energy use and improve a building’s efficiency in any climate. Duro-Last membranes have obtained third-party certifications, making their membrane preferred over other membranes.

Environment

High-performance roofing minimizes the impact on the Earth’s environment throughout the roof’s life, while also helping to maintain a healthy, productive environment inside the building.

Endurance

A high-performance commercial roof meets or exceeds performance requirements for long life: all-weather reliability; chemical, fire and puncture resistance; and ease of maintenance and repair.

Economics

A high-performance roof has to make economic sense, not just at the time of purchase, but also in the long run. A true economic comparison analyzes the cost of a roof throughout its life-cycle.

Engineering

Utilizing the right materials, design and manufacturing process is the key enabler of the other four E’s, resulting in a complete, integrated roofing system that can be installed easily and performs reliably over the long run.

2017 Sustainability Project Award

We are very proud to announce that Duro-Last, Inc. has awarded The Duerson Corporation the Sustainability Award for all 2017 projects nationwide! The project was a roof replacement at Pella Regional Health Center.

When Pella Regional Health Center added a third-floor expansion to their OB department, they contacted us to coordinate the roofing needs for the project. The plans involved a new roofing installation on the newly built third floor, as well as the removal and recycling of the existing roofing materials from the second floor. In the end, over 7,200 pounds of Duro-Last material was recycled, along with over 1,000 pounds of fasteners and plates and approximately 120,000 board feet of insulation! It was fantastic to be a part of such a huge project, and we couldn’t be more proud of the final product.

Duerson wins Sustainability award from Duro-Last 2017
