At Duerson Corporation, we install Duro-Last roofing systems for our customers with commercial and industrial flat or low-sloped roofs. Our main priority as a roofing contractor is to ensure you receive the best roofing possible to keep you and your business covered and protected for years to come, and we think Duro-Last delivers.
But don’t just take our word for how great Duro-Last is, learn the differences between Duro-Last PVC roofs and another popular roofing system, EPDM, to see why Duro-Last is the clear choice for commercial flat roofs.
Duro-Last Roofing
Duro-Last is one of the leading manufacturers of custom-fabricated PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) roofing systems. They produce roofing membranes with performance layers that exceed industry standards and competitor PVC roofs.
Duro-Last roofs are precision fabricated, meaning that they are manufactured to the exact size of your roofing project to ensure an excellent fit. One of the main reasons Duro-Last roofing systems are so popular is because of their durability. They are fire, chemical, grease, and high-wind resistant, as well as sturdy against punctures and extreme temperatures.
Duro-Last prefabricated single-ply roofing systems are also highly energy-efficient and backed by the best warranties you can find in the industry when installed by a certified installer like Duerson.
EPDM Roofing
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) roofing systems are made from synthetic rubber. Because of this construction, EPDM roofs are an affordable option, but not as resistant to damage from hail and debris compared to PVC roofing systems like Duro-Last.
The rubber used to make EPDM roofs are made of recycled tires, sawdust, and slate dust, so you can feel good about installing recycled roofing with this type.
Even with their benefits, EPDM roofs are not nearly as durable as Duro-Last and they may cause higher energy bills over time since they’re usually black in color and absorb more heat.
Price Comparison
Prices can vary, but EPDM roofing systems are often cheaper in regards to both materials and installation compared to Duro-Last. The caveat is that Duro-Last has lower long-term costs because it’s more durable and deflects heat for more energy efficiency.
If you live in an area with frequent storms or harsh weather conditions (such as in much of the Midwest served by our team at Duerson), the overall long-term costs for building maintenance could be much higher with an EPDM roof.
